Angela Wilcox has been the MYP Coordinator at Hopkins North since 2012 and an IBEN workshop leader since 2020. Angela's roles at North have focused on equity and learning transformation; in addition to the MYP coordinator and instructional coaching, she has been the restorative culture coordinator since 2018 and was the AVID building coordinator from 2016-2023. This school year, Angela was part of the team that created and taught the new 6th-grade Learning Design course for the first class of North Middle School 6th graders. Her focus on equity, inclusion, and transformative justice through education grounds her professional development work with teachers. This workshop will explore ways to shift our focus on the MYP unit planning process so that all learners are engaged and thriving.

We'll dig into the "boxes" of the unit planner, work on specific approaches to teaching moves, and consider the service-as-learning outcomes as ways to plan for more authentic implementation of our MYP units.

I am the PYP Preschool Coordinator for the Fridley Preschool. Fridley Public Schools is a PreK - 12 continuum district. I have served in this role since the fall of 2018. The Fridley Preschool became an IB World Authorized School in 2020. My background includes 36 years as an educator, serving as a music teacher prior to becoming the IB Coordinator. I have served as an educator in Fridley since 1997 and helped to launch MYP, DP, and PYP during my time in Fridley. I have a passion for teaching the Early Years and helping our youngest learners discover the world through inquiry and play.

This session will provide hands on time for educators to connect and work on their own early years planners and implementation. Participants will be able to take back to their own school ideas and concepts that can be implemented immediately for the coming school year.
